Bristol Equities, Inc.: Bristol Equities, Inc. is located in Portland, OR, and is an affiliate of Bristol Equity Capital, Inc. Established in 1990, Bristol’s first property was a residential building near the renowned NW 23rd shopping district in Portland. Since then Bristol Equities has renovated over 40 urban residential buildings in Portland and Tacoma. They specialize in vintage and historic properties ranging from 1890 to 1950 with an interest in enhancing the classic features which appeal to tenants.
Village Property Management: VPM Management, Inc. is a full service residential property management company and manages the majority Bristol’s Affordable Housing Portfolio. VPM has managed apartments in California for the past 28 years, and is one of the foremost affordable management companies in the state. It currently manages over 11,000 affordable apartments in 70 locations throughout California.
The properties VPM manages have been financed with bonds, tax credits and other affordable financing sources. VPM is very familiar with the HUD regulations and has been fully trained in the requirements for bond and tax credit programs and the income certification requirements for both of those programs.
VPM believes in a hands-on approach to management, incorporating the property owner’s goals and objectives through the implementation of an established written management plan. VPM maintains a high level of control over its properties, and rather uniquely handles billing and collection of rent from its central office rather than at the property level. By eliminating the collection of rent, banking, maintenance of resident records and all accounting functions from being done at the property, on-site staff has the ability and time to devote to resident relations, resident retention and offering of services to the residents, creating a more community-oriented environment.
VPM was established in 1965 to manage single-family homes purchased as investments. In 1978, Scott J. Barker, the current managing officer, took over the supervision of VPM and broadened its services to include the management of apartment communities.
